Kosgoda the beachfront ecotourism town
This small fishing town is known for being the nesting place for 7 species of turtles, some endangered: among them are Green, Olive Ridley, Loggerhead, Hawksbill and Leatherback. In addition, hosts of wildlife have made the forests in the area their home and bird watching has become a popular past-time.
This beach hugging town offers invigorating water and beach sports as well as a throw-back in time within ancient temples dating centuries ago and the quiet stillness of religious sites.
Ideally located for interesting excursions
A hop, skip or a jump away, perfectly located for diverse, engaging sightseeing. Delight in turtles, dolphins and whale watching. Immerse in traditional artisans, heritage and the lustre of moonstones.
Sea Turtle Conservation Centre
The Kosgoda shore is frequented by seven different turtles who swim back to the beach where they were born to lay eggs giving birth to the next generation.
Galle Fort, UNESCO World Heritage Site
Just over an hour away is the Galle Fort, an absolute treat for history lovers. It’s the largest remaining fortress in Asia built by colonial occupiers; first the Portuguese in 1588 and then the Dutch in the 17th century.
Brief Garden by Bevis Bawa
Created over 40 years, 15-acres of gardens brought to fruition by this celebrated architect’s expansively imaginative mind. An unforgettable experience.
Water Sports Bentota
